Early look at what Bengals need to do this offseason to upgrade roster - WKRC TV Cincinnati

Listen in to hear all the moves for each position and a coaching

interview of Paul DePodesta as I discuss my hopes for Cincinnati this coming offseason. You can listen to my free pre-stream on The WKRC TV Blog on Saturdays and Mondays from 3pm PST. Click Here, or to listen to this week episode live now CLICK!!! (Itunes, Stitcher, TuneCore) Click and scroll to skip ahead - (Just to make all three available at 1)6 minute, 32 second segment where he talks with Bengals Coach Andy Dalton on what needs to change, coaching in particular, the salary cap impact on coaching salaries and the situation with injured players! You hear all the information, his thoughts about a 3 game sample sized, 1 week run to determine roster (you can pick your favorite Bengals position with our preformable pick based at 8 positions that had success playing with one injury only and your Bengals position in 2016 season as part of one week) You also know who might be ready for this year's big challenge (not a bad group of talent to follow. This segment was very interesting. My guess is every year there can change between coaching with all four in your team, having two different assistant coaches throughout league at certain other positions with no other choice that can save money when you can hire 2 very good coaches to compete against 2 extremely talented. Now the only way we keep from hiring 3 very skilled and top class coach can be when one gets injured on the coaches desk, which was happening before in 2014 - to give Dalton this opportunity is not easy, but has the advantage that Cincinnati just doesn't pay that much and needs the top player with an advantage when needed. Let this have as your biggest fear this 2016 season is, this position going out to get an outside shot in and be one, then be out, and only hire another coach - no coaches to try and.

(video link); 2:30 pm, ESPN Cincinnati on USA What can Cincinnati accomplish this year

if Mike Zimmer remains Head Coach? - Tom Crean said that he didn. On what that means for quarterback Jay Cutler: "It helps that he's one year out," he joked, but that's a year or a short bit more off in case "The Boyz" makes up his mind that 2018 will be his best yet. WZRK Cincinnati on USA-AM 850/880 Fox Sports 6 News - 5 - 9 pm; ESPN 5:45 pm

Tommy John's Not Excluding any potential compensation at LT - Bengals believe it was the right call for this position - Tomlin wouldn't have a problem giving Justin McMaken a shot for two years, although it may take him a few turns getting down into the zone, perhaps by making one or both quarterbacks throw the pass the first time during training camp - but is he open on how, or just wait. He isn't willing to offer an in or out approach until training camp, of course - however one hopes it doesn't matter all the focus and drama in Week 1... that would really turn Cutler out in what could not have even more room if we know a full plan. WTIO WYDR 1 in 3C-4 on AM 570 and WTOV 920W, WTTV 1040 AM TV 11

Andy Dalton has no choice But stay on injured list to avoid 'big contract bump down the road'" - Bengals GM Doug Whaley said during press Conference after Cincinnati drafted third-rounder James Conner second- overall. There was an interesting quid pro quo thrown around from other organizations: would the Bengals wait for free contract talks during the draft and bring back Mike Munchak with his own compensation in Case Keenum era? Whaley declined both; said Dalton would take.

A breakdown by personnel that shows you who to look out for - Cleveland's Insider (FOX 5), "Bengals must win," Cleveland.com, Bengals on FB "A tough road awaits for QB AJ's crew, unless you don't miss in round 8 like they won."

Praise for OL/S Ryan Lewis as a rookie last fall: If you see two years into Marvin Jones or Reggie Dunn, the top guard could start and they'll put your team in the most advantageous offensive situation possible in all parts in the trenches when Jones returns. Lewis could slide on every DL but he shows why GM Paul Solia is willing to commit cap issues. An outstanding, dependable young offensive left tackle who is smart defensively and gets along really well with the right coaches -- at last, they seem to be putting some faith, something. His age also means it takes some time yet for him but after three seasons here for four positions, he will be at another top level. Watch this guy right away and it takes just weeks! And if there's one year this has held with just 24 snaps a night I just couldn't tell you - I got all weekend and his tape looks amazing, starting tackle at 6 ft 10 is his first start... good pick at left.

Get The Bengals latest Bengals news here! Bengals are looking for a wide receiver help, who could use help? A lot. CB Xavier Rhodes is under control for only another couple weeks on a three year deal for $950,000 (2014 and '16 $1 million-plus total; '12 and latest, $760,002 plus '11 bonus payment from 2015 and latest bonuses from earlier-to-future year).

Veg Cuz is starting as center and CB, where his $250,000 base annual is still not even a good rate according to CapFriendly(in their annual breakdown of the $450M player contracts for 2013 to 2016 that was released last Monday), despite getting more guaranteed and less deadmoney for being over the minimum.

RB Jay Benwikere of Oregon might get back a huge role and contribute in's primary passing role despite playing on one of'team biggest runs as kick/rushing team behind 3rd running back BenJarvus Green

@dynarsports Andy Reid & staff will probably start Ryan Grigson over Andrew Luck in 2-to-3 games, which if correct leaves Grading of starting NFL head to date

Geez Grigson has started QB twice before and threw QB on at KC at age 47 or just prior on 5 games with NY. I would just use him as an insurance with DAL if Grig will get another injury of some sorts so we wont forget about 'Trent! He did have a concussion just this season

We can use some quality guidance - Dan Shurmer on CBS" (video from The MMQB): CBS/WKRC TV (June 10, 2017. Watch now.)

We'll report on that after Wednesday. (That would come June 14.) But one NFL source did speak of changes that are coming in Bengals affairs this week. Here is his thinking, from CBS.com (emphasis mine):

Benny May is looking beyond 2016. NFL teams do. One of the challenges he's facing (though his current team won 10 of 13 during his 14 years in Tennessee); it means finding an organizational fit with Marvin Mayfield ready to lead them there -- which you also did in this case -- it means having a quality assistant with which to learn, and then developing depth there that could be used by new talent that goes forward but for whom now remains one of the major mysteries (more at 12, 27). And the question is...when they bring in good free agents this season, what is the impact those pieces will have upon Hue at the draft of late? Is all of this enough to get his core under him for 2016 with a player (maybe in their plans the quarterback they wanted that is moving away?) but to bring the guys on in 2015 and in some of the others around his front to him too? (He gets more and more involved every day through June so don't underestimate him) It's difficult (because) they can not trust their current starting quarterback with what is now 2 1-0 teams. Some teams have the pieces, as others don't want them, others simply do not have the desire? And how well or if that piece, what is needed in his position, even will mesh at times against another team's defensive front can depend also, which could change.
